Encaustic, or wax painting, is a technique that dates back to ancient Greece and Egypt. The process involves using brushes to apply molten beeswax and colored pigments to a rigid board. This workshop will explore encaustic processes including collage, stenciling and painting. The instructor will go over basic techniques, and participants will be able to complete several original pieces. A materials list will be provided at registration. This workshop is limited to 6 students. Participants are encouraged to take a one-hour break in the middle of the workshop. Those with asthma or other breathing issues should not take the class.
