Could be, my holly tree started dropping berries early on, just as they were coming out and doesn't have nearly as many berries as usual.
Same here. After last year's dry winter I lost probably 2/3 of the leaves on my large, mature hollys. Thankfully they rebounded nicely, but I have few berries this year.

Yesterday I went to cut twigs and sprays of holly at a friend's house here in SO. I was disappointed not to see any clusters of berries on her tree, and only a "berry" few red single berries. Last there there were many. Is the drought the cause of the paucity of red berries this year?
