I didn't intend to ignore this thread, but I am still not recovered from watching my mother slip away over the years between 2012 and 2014. Honestly, I have never been so traumatized and griefstricken in my life, so if the booklet helps anyone, I would say it is well worth reading. I do wish we had had some warning on what to expect or helpful advice on how to deal with it. We made so many painful but well-meant mistakes, learning as we blundered along from one heart-rending event to the next.
So, in retrospect, I would say anyone who is facing this ordeal should go in armed with as much information as they can muster.
Research has shown that the last taste receptors we can expect to have are the perceptions of something sweet or bitter. All other receptors slowly fade away.Lots of interesting information.
I'm going through this ordeal to the point its affected my health. I ordered the book.
BG9, a lot of us have been through this recently, so feel free to reach out. No one should have to deal with it alone, yet many do. A support system can make a world of difference.
