This was really not what I wanted to see today... evidence in a peer reviewed top-quality journal that COVID creates protein sequences that can form amyloid structures (potentially analogous to those in Alzheimers, although much further research is needed). Just another reason why COVID simply isn't "just the flu", I'm afraid. Note that this is a "test tube" study, so we don't yet know the implications in patients, but I find it worrying (having not dug deep into the technical detail, since I trust Nature's peer review process!). https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-022-30932-1
