Deep Cut Orchid Society annual show (& sale)

This show is held at Dearborn Market, an upscale grocery & garden center in Holmdel (on 35S), admission is free and there is plenty of parking.  Between vendors & orchid societies there will be 15-20 displays with blooming orchids of every variety (only a few Phalaenopsis).  If you come mid day, the market has a superb deli counter, making fabulous sandwiches.

This is an excellent opportunity to educate yourself on one of the largest plant families, and if you are into photography of flowers, Sunday morning is your time.

Dearborn Market:  2170 NJ-35, Holmdel, NJ 07733 (about 35-40 min drive from Maplewood)

Show is open Friday from noon till 6 PM, Saturday 9 AM till 6 PM, and Sunday 9 AM till 4 PM.

Well, the forecast ended up cancelling Sunday (which would be the day when I would take photos).  I did take a single shot of my own exhibit; perhaps this will entice you to visit the show next year (it is an annual event), as well as the most spectacular Dendrobium  (grown by an acquaintance from southern VA, it was driven up from Norfolk for display here):

tomcat, thank you for calling attention to the orchid show.  Didn't know that such a thing even existed.  Went on Saturday and had a good time, though it was mobbed.  Had no idea so many folks were into the orchid scene.
