If you want to help, or just be, with shelter dogs but can't commit to fostering, I found this re St. Huberts. You can basically take a shelter dog on a short date. As little as an hour. I guess they don't have enough staff to keep the dogs entertained/exercised. If I didn't already have a dog, I'd do it.
