Today and Saturday, the main precipitation looks to be staying to our west over central PA and upstate NY, where they could get significant snow. Check local forecasts if you are traveling this weekend
Got close to an inch here in Maplecrest. Easy to shovel at 7 am this morning. Sun seems to have taken care of most of the sidewalks, even where people did not shovel.
Maybe this was an an outlier since Joan only got an inch and she lives just a couple of blocks away from me, but we had about four inches of snow accumulated on our deck tables and chairs. Much less on the driveway and grass where presumably the ground was warmer than our metal/glass patio furniture. (Our deck is on the north side of the house so always shaded in winter. At the end of the afternoon as it got dark, the amounts on the furniture had settled but were still at or more than two inches.)
We also got about 4" on our deck table and benches - and this is on the south-east side. Our stairs on the north-west side of our house didn't accumulate as much snow height, but were quite icy.
It was kinda windy so maybe that explains why you have four inches in the backyard and two inches in the front yard. It looks to me like we had about 2 and a half inches of snowfall.
The ground was still unfrozen so the accumulation was delayed by groundmelt and therefore lower. Official measurements are taken in contact with the ground, so I reported 2.6" with a water content of 0.09", but I collected 0.21" liquid in the gauge so there was the equivalent of several more inches that fell but melted immediately
Monday Dec 23rd
