It would be good to know a little more about what precipitated this raid. The administration has stated that their policy is to prioritize deporting criminals and people who are currently not complying with a deportation order. So maybe there was some evidence that someone from either group was working at this business?
I really hope this isn’t the beginning of random raids of businesses where you think you might find a few undocumented workers.
Wow, was I wrong. I was so sure that ICE would be focused on the border states, figuring that Trump would want to please his voters. I felt he wouldn't spend a cent working in our state, after all those states sent buses filled with people who crossed the border to the tri state area.
But I was way off on this one.
The account in the above article is deeply disturbing. So many of my close friends and extended family immigrated to this country from South America and I can't imagine how they would react to such questioning. Indignation might not play well with ICE.
I guess everyone in the Federal building in Newark is going to have to start bringing their lunches, instead of popping over to the Ironbound.

Raids in especially blue state cities will highly please his base. Sticking it to the libs. So will stopping them from crossing the border.
As for the red states big money agricultural and meat industries which are big givers to the Republican party and that depend on cheap migrant labor don't expect much. There may be a show raid now and then but not enough to hurt their bottom lines.
Besides, does anyone really believe Americans are willing to work agriculture in over 100 degree heat 12 hours a day for peanuts?

Oh the Cubans in Florida are pissed off now and rightfully so, after they threw all their support behind trump… only to see he’s already deporting them. It’s hysterical isn’t it?
The Haitian people in Springfield who love the delicacy of sautéed dog and cat soup are also In hysterical mode…we are in for some siht!! The sad part is we’re all getting older and we have to take care of our health before we die of cardiac arrest… I so want to see trump suffer before I go ….

Well, generally when you vote for an authoritarian racist, that’s what you’re gonna get.

So heavily armed and armored. Acting as if they're expecting the workers to take AR15's out of the fryers and freezers.
A show for the MAGA crowd.

What I overlooked as well was his incentive to rattle sanctuary cities so that he can enforce his threat to withhold aid.
Still even with meat packing and agriculture, I felt he would have to make a show of deporting migrants from the border states.
On a side note, I watched the Senate hearings for the Secretary of Agriculture nominee Brooke Rollins. It was Senator Booker who questioned her about her future efforts against the meat packing industries use of child labor and the abuse and risks of injuries on the job. One issue which I've read about is line speed. All of these abuses keep the price of meat down so no surprised that she couldn't answer his yes or no question using the usual excuse that she does not know enough about the issue and will be happy to discuss it at a later date. I hoped the child labor issue would get a better answer and of course I had no illusions that animal abuse would be mentioned.
He does have a few bills on the topic which he pointed out to her. He was always my Dem dream pick for Secretary of Agriculture.

A seafood distribution business in Newark was raided by about a dozen ICE agents. According to mayor Ras Baraka, they did not have a warrant.
