I read that Ohtani (or his advisors) wanted most of the contract deferred to save big money on taxes. The assumption is that he will not be living in California when he gets the $680 million in deferred money. I am surprised they agreed to no interest on the deferred payments.

I'm happy that he got the best that he could get, but I don't like that 680 million of the 700 million is deferred. That seems extreme. The Dodgers have to put the money in escrow, but only part of it is applied to the competitive balance tax. It's been done for decades obviously, no need to point out Bonilla, but this is pretty extreme.
He also makes about $45 million annually in endorsement deals. The Angels made $20 million per year off of his endorsements.
