Everyone out there in Maplewood and South Orange, or really anywhere. Can you please go around your house and as far down your street as you can manage, and pick up stray Halloween candy and wrappers? Those of us with dogs would very much appreciate it.
in the past two days I have had to dig out of my large dog's jaws or drag him away by force: a full unopened mini pack of Oreos that was about to go down his throat whole, a full pack of Starburst, several full mini packs of M&Ms, numerous half eaten chocolate bars or empty packs of all kinds of candy, an unopened Hershey bar, gummy worms, I don't know what else. He consumed a full lollipop including the stick - couldn't get it away from him. This morning it was something wrapped in foil, no idea what it was but at least it was small. He also ate other things I couldn't see, just heard him crunching. IIRC he knows "drop it" to a degree, but we are still working on it and there is no treat on earth of high enough value to get him to drop this stuff.
Some of these things are just crap he shouldn't eat, but others are poisonous to dogs, other things could cause a blockage that can kill a dog.
So please, for the love of all our four footed friends, clean up as much of your neighborhood as you can manage, and pass this on via social media (I am not on any other social media myself nor is anyone in my family).
