The damage done by Trump by the end of four years will be unfathomable. I hope there are people much smarter than me keeping track and planning. But first the Democrats need to win the WH in 2028.
The Democrats need to be putting out practical and appealing campaign points, and hammering them, in hopes of winning votes. And also planning to prevent or undo what damage they can. But first the votes. And maybe i'm not listening well, but i'm not much hearing the campaign.
I love Jamelle's ideas, but "what a majority can do" depends on first getting a majority.
No. Democrats shouldn’t be talking about setting up tribunals. We should “be putting out practical and appealing campaign points, and hammering them” as mjc said above.
I’d rather the Democrats highlight the incompetence of the current administration, and the lack of any kind of oversight by Republicans in Congress. They allowed us to blunder into a financially ruinous war which is going to end with a huge pile of eggs on our collective face. The radical and haphazard tariff policies of the last few years have also made a hash of the economy, driving inflation and killing job growth.
If we start making this election about trials and prosecutions, we’ll lose. If congressional candidates run saying they’ll vote to impeach Trump, that’s not going to help them win and might hurt. American voters want to hear that someone cares about them and has a plan to help, not that someone is running to go after their opposition.
I hope we win back the House and Senste this fall. It would be a huge victory and perhaps start to stem the carnage happening in DC and around the country. But I’ll be disappointed if impeachment votes are being bandied about. They’ll have two years to investigate and possibly bring charges against him. But if they’ve done nothing to help average Americans out of the **** they’re in right now, it will just piss off enough people that maybe we’re dealing with President Vance for four years.

And I said reconstruct and not rebuild to emphasize that we can't just try to exactly put back together what's been dismantled. We need some vision here.
