we're in the Stephen Miller Presidency.

(first to me anyway.)

Trump to build mass detention camp for deportees at Guantánamo Bay (WaPo)
Prepping the facility for 30,000 people to be detained. And he says it’s because we can’t trust their home countries to keep them there. So essentially he wants to send 30,000 to an interment facility with no access to due process. Let alone family or other support. There will also be limited press access.
We’ll just have to take their word for it that the people who get shipped off to the facility are actually dangerous criminals who are threatening the American people.

An internment camp. He says they are for the most dangerous undocumented immigrants, but I would imagine most dangerous illegal immigrants known to the authorities are already in prison.
So, it is just state terrorism directed against the defenseless.
Very Christian, wouldn't you agree @mtierney.
omg, not Guantanamo. What an ongoing disgrace. Bye bye habeas corpus. Another breach in the wall of law.
And when he says "for the most dangerous," can we count on his being as discerning as he was when he separated out the most dangerous from the rest of the Jan. 6 convicts in granting pardons?

Silly man. The pardons were for white people. Totally different rules.
(Yes that was sarcasm)

Yes, bye bye habeas corpus.
It's kind of hard to enable that right where there are no Federal Courts.
By the time he's done the only right that may be applicable is the 2nd Amendment.
I wonder how long this web site will survive? Is one of the owners resident in China? Does that make this a National Security risk? Is it time to issue a National Security Letter requiring all posts and the IP's of posters?
The ‘Right Way’ to Immigrate Just Went Wrong (The Atlantic)
According to Tom Homan, President Donald Trump’s “border czar,” the administration’s deportation policies apply only to people who are “in the country illegally,” not to the “millions of people standing in line, taking the test, doing their background investigation, paying the fees, that want to come in the right way.”
This week, more than half a million Venezuelans who’d done things “the right way” discovered that the distinction might not matter. They’d filled out forms, paid up to $545 in fees, and waited anywhere from two to 12 months to secure Temporary Protected Status, which allows them to live and work in the United States. And yet, on Wednesday, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced that these 600,000 Venezuelans would be stripped of that status and subject to deportation as of September 10.
This was never about "illegal" immigration.

I missed her confirmation hearing. I'm trying to watch hearings of the most extreme candidates and she was on my list. They are rerunning some of them on C - SPAN.
What is their logic? I couldn't finish the article without doing a free trial and I'm not sure my email box can stand anymore traffic.

I think the operative concept here is "darker skin".

Hatred of immigrants has been a major theme of Trump since his 2016 run. During his first administration, we saw him engage in cruelty against immigrants as a policy, kidnapping children and breaking up families (many have never been reunited). It'll be worse this time around, and to the extent that Trump fits a definition of fascist, it'll be in this area we'll likely see actions qualifying as such -- direct state violence and state-sanctioned "private" violence targeting national, religious, and ethnic groups disfavored by the government. It'll happen enough that a thread specifically about it, unfortunately, will make sense.
And lest people attempt a defense by saying it's about illegal immigration, keep in mind that a big part of his strategy is to make legal immigration nearly impossible. He'll talk about "illegal" immigrants, then work to make most immigration "illegal."
For example:
So now many people literally can't be documented.
And we already see him saying he's going to use the military, and claiming he can unilaterally overturn the constitution and "end" birthright citizenship.
