It's important to match the tires. At the very least it should be the same size and specs as the other three. The new tire should go on the rear axle.
Personally, I would purchase the exact same make and model.
Your best chance of matching the three tires is from Tire Rack.... tirerack.com
You can have the tire delivered to a garage or tire dealer of your choice. Or they can deliver the tire to your house and you take it to be installed.
Thanks for your thoughts.
I found these different choices by searching for tires by specs- not by name. So all 3 dozen results match our needs. The OEM on this is Bridgestone— ~$175 Walmart; Tirerack ~$215. Cooper ~$145. Kumho ~$145. I haven’t checked tire rack price for other 2 candidates.

We need to replace A tire— torn sidewall. (The other 3 should last another coule of years) How critical is using an exact(OEM) tire? Prices for same size, different mfrs,, $140-175. These are at Walmart.
In essence, this will be the first in a replacement set. So it will be joined by 3 brothers. Brands in question: Bridgestone, Cooper, Kumho.
Any thoughtd and experiences will be greatly appreciated.
