Columbia High School Musical Information 2025 Please help!

Posted here but if no answers with Jamie's blessing I'll post in Education and/or Arts Entertainment

When is the musical this year? Usually in March and tickets on sale by now. But phone calls and emails are not getting through. I had heard it may be delayed due still to the renovations in the auditorium.

Anyone with any info or contact info please advise. I go to these nearly every year even before my son went to to Columbia and was likely still in Elementary school. Thanks!!!

I feel so old now my kids are all gone from Columbia…I think they might use south orange middle school as I’m sure they had in the past. Seems such a long time ago… LOL

Last I heard, they were planning on using Maplewood Middle School again this year.

Yes, they have to use a Middle School again this year. I was told last month that the work above the stage won't be completed.

But are tickets on sale yet or are the dates now pushed later than it was to be in March? Any info much appreciated. I saw the CHS last year at Maplewood Middle Mama Mia wonderful!  Any info on dates/ticket sales would be appreciated. Particularly since it's a smaller venue and I want to get tickets asap once on sale.

One of my sons was in the band when they played at south orange that’s why it immediately came to mind. It’s very nostalgic for me to drive around and go past the places my kids would wander around, because they are not around anymore. In fact all their friends from school are all gone.

If anyone knows when the shows will be and when tickets are on sale please post here or DM me.

As to the nostalgia Jaytee I hear you. However these musicals are amazing. They are truly the quality of off off Broadway. I have been going nearly every year even before my son -chs class of 2010 - even was in Middle school. Even if I don't the selection each year, I go to see wonderful performances and music and set and everything!

I believe the show is "The Prom."

The show is indeed "The Prom"

Opening night is March 13, with shows March 14, 15, 16, and three more shows the following weekend. Tickets will be on sale soon

Do you know if senior citizens will once again be invited to the dress rehearsal or if this tradition remains suspended?

Max to the rescue. Thanks!!! What will be the website to click onto when tickets go on sale to the general public if you know. So glad this is happening!  And at MMS yes?

Yes, at MMS

When tickets go on sale there will be an announcement here: https://www.facebook.com/chsallschoolmusical

Again thank you to you Max for this! Oh and the weather forecasting too lol!

Joan, in case they don't offer the senior dress rehearsal, the tickets are very reasonable and way below anything I've eve seen of this quality from off off Broadway. I've been going since pre Trish Beam when the VP whose name will come to me later was directing. He did a Funny Thing way way back and all was superb!

And I assume a link to order tickets as in the past?

As a member of the Maplewood Seniors Advisory Committee, I would like to get the word out to our seniors if the senior community is being invited to the All School Musical dress rehearsal, as was the case before the CHS stage became unusable last year.  The Committee would also need time to arrange senior transportation to and from the event so as many seniors as possible could attend and enjoy the show.  Thus my question.

But it was my post Joan. And I was trying to keep the info for tickets intact. Good luck finding out. There is a good contact number beyond Max by the way.

Again, this was not the post to ask that but I appreciate your involvement. Since it is in fact at MMS you now have your answer partly at least.

You could try asking the organizers of the play rather than MOL.

Check the fb link above starting tomorrow. Tickets will go on sale this week

Tickets are in presale. Open to general public starting at noon today. I just clicked on the link Max provided, and another link and another one: https://cur8.com/23361/project/129076

Thanks max, Karen and even the CHS musical folks who messaged me yesterday to say the public sale would begin today at noon.  I have my 3 tickets for that last Sunday matinee and can't wait!

Never even heard of the Prom but the quality of each year's entire production is such that it is always a joy to see as I marvel at the talent we have in our two towns. Must be the water! ;-)

And yes I know we have many theatre folks living here but more times than not the kids in the show are not their progeny (although some have been) and even though the current director/choreographer is in fact a former actor/dancer these productions rocked even when Michael Healy directed. I still remember the talented kid who played the Zero Mostel part in Funny Thing.

“The Prom” was on Broadway before the pandemic of 2020. There’s a movie version on Netflix with Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden, Andrew Rannells, Keegan-Michael Key and the exquisite Kerry Washington. Also Ariana DeBose who was Anita in Spielberg’s “West Side Story”. And a very talented young woman named Jo Ellen Pellman.
