Laptop dead?

Was watching a film on Saturday night, fell asleep, laptop ran through film to credits before going into standby/auto off. Laptop was on battery power.

On Sunday, the laptop wouldn't turn on after putting it on external power. left it plugged in for 24+ hours, but still no power.

Power supply is good, showing 19+ volts at the plug.

Any ideas, other than shop for a new unit.

offhand, the only thing I can think of is try to remove the battery and leave it out for a few minutes, put it back and try again.

Hold down the power button for a full minute. 

Thanks for the suggestions, but: the battery's not removable; and holding down the button, didn't work. 

The problem has since resolved itself.

What brand and model is it?

An hp, model number embossed on the bottom of the deck, but unreadable to these eyes.
