Is PIRE a business or formal entity of some kind (e.g. not for profit) or just a proposed informal meet up group that you will be members of?

So you recently retired. Now what?
Sure, it’s exciting and liberating. But figuring out your next chapter can also be slightly terrifying*. We know because we’re there too. And we’re learning first-hand that retiring can require a little rewiring.
If you’ve reached this milestone (or are about to), we invite you to join with your peers at a similar place in their lives. Together we can share ideas, insights, frustrations and even opportunities.
Our goal is to meet once a month and to some extent create the format for our group as we go along. We are envisioning discussion groups, guest speakers on relevant topics and, if there is interest, occasional field trips (parental permission slips not required!).
If you think this might be of interest to you, send us an e-mail and let us know.

This already exists in Maplewood and South Orange. We have a shared service age friendly initiative called SOMA Two Towns For All Ages that does all this and more. Each town has a Seniors Advisory Committee which will be happy to meet with you to discuss what is available and how additional programming and services can happen. Check out your local library and recreation department for still more offerings. Look into local clubs and organizations that are already offering a wide variety of socialization and volunteer opportunities. You can find a partial listing in the Volunteer Directory on the SOMA Two Towns For All Ages website. Don't limit your search to your own municipality. Most of the towns in the area have vibrant programming for older adults including classes, lectures and trips and most are happy to include participants who don't live in the town sponsoring the event. The adult school is another resource. There current catalog is filled with programming on a wide variety of topics. Welcome to retirement.
