The outdoor security was transferred to the Newark police from the state police. 

And what if there were some bad actors who came in to stir up trouble in an attempt to discredit the protestors, and elicit a violent response from ICE and the police? It wouldn’t surprise me. 

It seems like a lot of people are lining up to throw Sherrill under the bus. I’m not saying this wasn’t a mistake. But the long knives seem to have come out on both sides. 

I'm not "lining up" with anyone. But Sherrill deserves all the criticism she's getting. It was a huge mistake to send a riot squad of troopers to Newark.

She should know better. Anyone paying the least bit of attention to history knew what she did was going to provoke violence instead of preventing it. Sure, send in the police, but in regular uniform, not armor and shields.

I hope she learned a lesson.

“Three days after the debate Mrs. Biden told the magazine Vogue, in connection with a glamorous cover shoot featuring her, that the Bidens “will not let those 90 minutes define the four years he’s been President.”

“As for what she said after the debate, she now says: “I’m his wife. I’m not going to get out on the stage there and say, ‘Joe, you really screwed that up.’ I mean, and we have all of our supporters there.”

“The truth is that the Bidens clung to the Presidency like life itself until it became impossible to do so. They only pulled the plug when Nancy Pelosiand others threatened to go public and stage a coup if they didn’t drop out first. We use the word “they” here deliberately because of Mrs. Biden’s role.

“This was a monumental act of selfishness, and the Democratic Party paid the price. Without a competitive primary, the party reacted to Mr. Biden’s late withdrawal by rushing to anoint Vice President Kamala Harris as the default nominee.

“The party’s 2024 candidate switcheroo was a political debacle of historic proportions. Mr. Biden asked voters to keep him in office until age 86, and Democrats fell into line in a protective phalanx until close to the end. The only dissenter was Dean Phillips, the former Minnesota Congressman who predicted that Mr. Biden would lose if he ran and the only serious candidate to challenge Mr. Biden in the primary. He was a prophet without a party.

“Mrs. Biden seems to bear a grudge against Ms. Harris because she sought Joe’s immediate endorsement. As we advised at the time, Democrats could have benefited from a competitive party convention to choose a nominee. The country would have been riveted to the event as a rare actual political drama.

“But the original sin was Joe Biden’s decision to run for a second term, abetted and encouraged by Jill. They won’t admit it, but they both deserve outsize credit for helping Donald Trump win a second term.”

I don't buy that another candidate would have beaten Trump. Too many millions of uninformed and misinformed voters bought the idiotic notion that Trump was going to bring down the cost of their groceries "on day one." Too many people were angry at Democrats for the price of daily staples and wanted them out of office.

that said, your focus on Joe Biden, who was rapidly aging but not demented seems even more absurd as we watch the current POTUS descend into some sort of debilitating mental illness before our very eyes. A man who stays up all night ranting and raving on "truth" social. A man who can't focus on what he calls "boring" negotiations to end an illegal war he started for no good reason.

why don't you spend more time worrying about the guy in the White House now driving the country into the ground, and give up concerning yourself with Joe Biden who at least was a competent steward of the presidency, regardless of what else you think of him.

Is there a choice between Newsom and Harris? Both lack the same credibility issues , as far as I see. If the DNC really wants to keep CA blue, I think it would be wise for it to look for a winning candidate, not a known loser, such as Harris — or a Governor who appears to be just keeping the seat in the  Governor’s Mansion warm!

Trump's left historical, spiritual, and literal wreckage and his term isn't even half over. 

Nan's focus on "Nazis" is weird, even apart from the veracity of her claims, in that it really does nothing to bolster her defense of Putin's wanton aggression. After all, we can acknowledge the hostility, radicalism, and true threat the Iranians present to their own people and their neighbors, and yet at the same time recognize this in no way justifies Trump's wanton and reckless aggression against Iran. Similarly, recognizing that Hamas did, in fact, attack Israel, kill over a thousand people (almost all civilians) in the name of an ideology that is an actual existential threat to Israel doesn't stop us from condemning Israel's disproportionate and indefensible response.

And yet, when it comes to Russia's actions, Nan feels compelled to talk about Nazis and NATO and just about anything else except Russia's actual actions in Ukraine.

Of course, we know what the difference is -- Iran is a Russian ally, so the attack on it is bad for that reason, not for any consistent principle. Similarly, Israel is to be condemned not on the basis of any consistent principle, but because it's an American ally (and because, you know George Soros and the rest of the neocon cabal that controls NATO and the US and that is responsible for attacks against Russia).
